Bringing Your Bunny Home
Hippity Hop recommends keeping your bunny in the home. Begin with a dedicated home-base area, such as a simple pet-gated pen, even if you plan to allow more free roaming later. Use a protective, waterproof floor surface and include a hide or enclosure, fresh water, pellet feed, and hay. Keep the first few days calm while your bunny settles in. Hippity Hop places rabbits as companions only and does not sell rabbits for meat production.
Feeding
Hippity Hop currently feeds Ware Milling 18% Rabbit Pellet. Your bunny goes home with a starter supply of this familiar feed so any transition can be gradual. Confirm long-term portions and dietary changes with a rabbit-savvy veterinarian.
Housing
Plan for full Flemish Giant size. Provide a designated area with protective flooring, room to stretch and move normally, a hide or protected resting area, fresh water, pellet feed, hay, and daily exercise in a bunny-safe space.
Hay
Offer clean grass hay such as Timothy or Bermuda. Alfalfa is richer in protein, calcium, and calories and is generally reserved for particular growth, pregnancy, or medical needs under rabbit-savvy veterinary guidance rather than routine adult feeding.
Litter Box Basics
Use a roomy box with rabbit-safe litter and place hay where it encourages natural litter-box use. Habits take time. A sudden change in an established rabbit's litter habits can be a reason to call your veterinarian.
Nail Care
Check nails regularly and trim before they become overgrown. Support the rabbit's chest and hindquarters securely, and ask a rabbit-savvy veterinarian or experienced groomer to demonstrate if you are unsure.
Bathing
Routine bathing is generally avoided. Wetting a rabbit can cause intense stress and make temperature regulation difficult. Ask a rabbit-savvy veterinarian how to handle soiling or a medical grooming need.
Health and Veterinary Care
